On the evening of 13 March 2025, young filmmakers and leading figures from the UK film industry gathered to celebrate the first anniversary of the inclusive filmmaking initiative from Into Film, Every Child a Filmmaker. This special event, hosted by Universal Pictures, highlighted the impact of the programme over the past year and fundraised for the second year.
The evening featured a showcase of all 28 youth-led filmmaking projects created along with individual screenings and Q&A sessions with students behind two standout films—Dinosaur, made by pupils from All Saints Catholic High School, Sheffield, and Anna and the Ninja, created by students from Castle Tower School, Ballymena, Northern Ireland. Watch the highlights here.
Neville, Samuel and Claudia’s teacher, said: “Seeing our pupils of Castle Tower School being recognised and celebrated on this scale was incredible. The impact of this opportunity on them cannot be overstated, and I am so grateful for the platform you have provided for their creativity and talent. I can’t put into words how immensely proud I am of Samuel and Claudia—watching them step into the spotlight and conduct themselves with such confidence and enthusiasm was a moment I will never forget”.
In its first year, the initiative provided 330 young people from across the UK with the opportunity to experience the transformative power of filmmaking. With a strong focus on supporting under-served and under-represented communities, 12 of these projects were delivered in priority areas identified by Into Film and the BFI.
