Danielle Deadwyler has won the Outstanding Lead Performance prize at the Gotham Awards 2022 for her role in Till, produced by Barbara Broccoli.
Danielle was nominated alongside Cate Blanchett, Michelle Yeoh and Brendan Fraser for the award, which she won for her performance as Mamie Till. The biographical drama is centered around the civil rights activist’s life following the death of her 14-year-old son Emmett in 1955.
Till – written, produced and directed by Chinonye Chukwu – opened in the US in October and is released in the UK on January 6.
The 23rd annual Gotham Awards took place in New York on 28 November. The Gotham Awards celebrate independent film and recognise movies with budgets of under $35 million.
